LANSING, Sept. 12, 2024 ~ After reviewing more than 6,000 documents linked to disgraced sports doctor Larry Nasser, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel said her office’s investigation into the assault scandal at Michigan State University is being closed.

Nessel said the documents will be released to the public, with redactions, adding she was disappointed that the documents had not been released years ago. “Sadly, there simply is no fulfilling answer to the question of how Nassar was able to perpetuate his abuse of so many for so long without MSU putting a stop to it. To say I’m disappointed by this outcome is an understatement.” Nessel said. The school fought their release, saying they were covered by attorney-client privilege. The attorney general said she later learned that not all of the documents had been saved and that others were not covered by attorney-client privilege.
