Demolition Begins Henry Ford Health Expansion Project in Detroit

DETROIT, May 7, 2024 ~ The $2.2 billion Henry Ford Hospital expansion in the New Center area is underway.

The former Health Alliance Plan building is being demolished and the hospital says it will take months for the demolition and clean-up to be completed. This fall, there will be a groundbreaking for the new 21-story hospital tower, and the new buildings are expected to open in 2029. The expansion project is one segment of a $3 billion collaborative development involving Henry Ford Health, Michigan State University, and the Detroit Pistons organization. The entire project will encompass a hospital tower, 662 apartments, and a medical research center.
