ANN ARBOR, April 23, 2024 ~ Dozens of students at the University of Michigan set up tents and food Monday at the university Diag, forming a solidarity encampment in support of Gaza.

In the afternoon, hundreds of protestors came in support of the students at the encampment, who are calling on the university to divest funds from companies that support Israel amid its military campaign into the Gaza Strip that has killed over 34,000 people. A growing movement of encampments set up by pro-Palestinian student protestors has swept higher education institutions across the country, largely inspired by an encampment at Columbia University that entered its seventh day Tuesday.
