The Food Bank Council of Michigan Honors WJR’s Jeff Marcero with Hunger-Free Michigan Award

LANSING, April 10, 2024 ~ On Wednesday, The Food Bank Council of Michigan awarded their annual Hunger-Free Michigan Award to 760 WJR General Sales Manager Jeff Marcero.

For more than 100 years, the Great Voice of the Great Lakes, WJR, has been focused on supporting the needs of the community,” Marcero told the gathered crowd during his acceptance speech.

As a media partner with SAY Detroit, the Salvation Army, the March of Dimes, Sparky Anderson’s CATCH for Kids, Ted Lindsay Foundation for Autism, Hunger Free in the D, and others, WJR helps raise more than $5-million dollars annually,” Jeff continued.

As Phil (Food Bank Council of Michigan Executive Director Dr. Phil Knight) reminds me regularly, when you’re hungry, nothing else matters” … “we’re looking forward to keeping the importance of food security front-and-center for many more years to come.”

Their mission is to provide and implement a unified strategy that addresses hunger and alleviates it across the state. The Hunger-Free Michigan Award celebrates individuals and organizations that have made a significant impact towards achieving that goal.
