Detroit Police Chief Discusses Declining Crime Rates During WJR Visit

DETROIT, March 28, 2024 ~ Detroit Police Chief James White boasted the city’s declining crime rates, though noted more work is needed to continue the city’s safety and reputation improvements.

The city of Detroit saw a decrease in homicides, carjackings, overall violent crimes, and non-fatal shootings in 2023, though instances of larcenies and aggravated assaults saw increases. White told WJR‘s Guy Gordon, Lloyd Jackson, and Jamie Edmonds that, “We’re working with our partners, which is super important. Everyone cares about the city of Detroit, and we’ve got a lot of good momentum.
