LANSING, March 21, 2024 ~ A bipartisan effort to push for growing nuclear power generation in Michigan is underway after a group of state representatives introduced bills that would help build small advanced nuclear reactors, establish grants for nuclear university programs, and establish tax credits for nuclear research and workforce attraction.

On Tuesday, the bills were introduced with sponsors from State Reps. Joey Andrews (D-St. Joseph), Graham Filler (R-Clinton County), Mike McFall (D-Hazel Park), Samantha Steckloff (D-Farmington Hills) and Pauline Wendzel (R-Bainbridge Township). Andrews told Guy Gordon, Lloyd Jackson, and Jamie Edmonds that, “Essentially, it is taking the facilities we have and supercharging them, and hopefully these new reactors coming in the future for people around the country who are in the industry. It’s just making Michigan a really attractive place to be if you’re in the industry.
