OAKLAND, March 11, 2024 ~ Today marks the third day of James Crumbley‘s involuntary manslaughter trial in Oakland County Circuit Court.

Two Oxford High School staff members took the stand to testify: former Dean Nicholas Ejak and Counselor Shawn Hopkins. On the day of the shooting, where four students were murdered and seven others were injured, both Ejak and Hopkins met with Ethan Crumbley and his parents, James and Jennifer Crumbley.

Hopkins spoke about the multiple concerned alerts from teachers regarding Ethan Crumbley in the months prior to the shooting. Ejak testified about meeting with the Crumbley’s, Ethan’s violent drawings, and not searching the shooters backpack the day of the shooting. He claimed that at the moment, “there was no reasonable suspicion to search the backpack.”
