CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI, March 6, 2024 ~ Clinton Township, a municipality in Macomb County, declared a state of emergency Tuesday while an investigation continues into an industrial fire that triggered massive explosions at a local smoke shop and retail supplier.

Township Supervisor Bob Cannon said that Select Distributors/Goo Smoke Shop, which operated out of the building that caught fire Monday evening, was not licensed to store butane and nitrous oxide tanks that are believed to have caused the explosions that sent debris flying through the area, killing a 19-year-old man near the scene. He added that there would be repercussions for those who committed wrongdoings and to report any gas canisters found near the scene as they could still pose a danger of exploding.
