Duggan: Packard Plant to Be Torn Down By End of 2024

March 4, 2024 ~ The next phase in the demolition of the historic and long-vacant Packard Plant began Monday, continuing efforts to revitalize the area.

The demolition is taking place at 5409 Concord St. in Detroit, with the section at 1539 E. Grand Blvd. slated for redevelopment to honor the historic plant. Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan and Detroit City Council President Mary Sheffield gave comments at the start of the demolition, with the mayor stating that the plant will be torn down by the end of 2024.
