PODCAST:

Feb. 29, 2024 ~ Few organizations can claim 100 years of service to their community, but one is right here in Detroit, with the Urban League of Detroit and Southeast Michigan opening its doors in 1916. N. Charles Anderson, president of the Urban League of Detroit, joins Marie Osborne to talk about the organization’s mission and how it continues to bring hope and leadership to the community. Anderson also talks about the organization’s 45th Distinguished Warriors Gala on March 14, 2024.

The Furniture Bank of Southeast Michigan is sounding the alarm. More than 180 families are waiting for at least 2,100 items, including mattresses, box springs, dressers, dining sets, and sofas. This is triple the number of families waiting for furniture compared to the same period in 2021. Rob Boyle, executive director of the Furniture Bank, talks about how people can donate used furniture in good condition to the organization.
