Whitmer Proposes $80.7 Billion State Budget for FY 2025, Includes Free Preschool and Community College

LANSING, Feb. 8, 2024 ~ Gov. Gretchen Whitmer introduced her proposed $80.7 billion 2025 fiscal year budget, with a focus on helping low-income families and making education more affordable.

As promised in her State of the State Address last month, Whitmer’s budget includes universal preschool for all children in the state, along with free two-years of community college for Michigan high school graduates. The budget also allocates $200 million for free school lunches for children.
