PONTIAC, MI, Feb. 2, 2024 ~ In a gripping cross-examination of Jennifer Crumbley, the prosecution grilled her about her parenting choices, extramarital affair, priorities as a parent, phone calls from jail, and relationship with her son, Ethan, during her involuntary manslaughter trial about whether she should face responsibility for neglecting her son before he committed a school shooting.

After she cross-examined Jennifer Crumbley on Friday, Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald concluded that there were several points where she had reason to intervene with her son’s mental health before he killed four students and injured seven others in 2021 at Oxford High School, and that she was a neglectful mother who rarely prioritized her son. Crumbley’s defense attorney, Shannon Smith, said the prosecution was “cherry picking” evidence against her client, maintaining that she could not have known her son would her son would go on a shooting rampage.
