COMMERCE TOWNSHIP, Jan. 3, 2023 ~ Amid rising party disarray, financial issues, and a lack of transparency from party leadership, Michigan GOP Chairwoman Kristina Karamo is facing removal from her position as party leader Saturday.

The Michigan Republican Party‘s state committee is meeting on Jan. 6 in Commerce Township to vote on whether to remove Karamo as party leader, which would require 75% of the committee’s vote, along with a vote to lower the threshold of removing a leader to just a two-thirds vote. Karamo, a strong supporter of former President Donald Trump who has been lambasted for spreading 2020 election conspiracies, criticized the committee for not properly scheduling the vote according to the party’s bylaws.
