Detroit Tigers Transform Their Stadium, Roster, and Staff for the Season Ahead

DETROIT, Dec. 22, 2023 ~ As the Detroit TigersOpening Day is approaching early April, fans have more to look forward to than just baseball season.

Comerica Park will be installing a brand-new 15,688 square foot videoboard, now the second largest in Major League Baseball. Significant enhancements to the audio and visual systems will include new speakers and ballpark televisions with upgraded resolution and high-definition viewing. Be prepared for a transformative visual and audio experience next time at the stadium.

Along with stadium advancements, the Detroit Tigers have signed right-handed pitcher Jack Flaherty to a one-year contract worth $14 million. Flaherty was initially drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the first round of the 2014 MLB draft, eventually playing for the Baltimore Orioles. In seven MLB seasons, Flaherty has a 42-34 record with 748 strikeouts in 131 career appearances, including 125 starts.

Not only has the roster improved, but also the Tigers coaching staff. For the 2024 season, Joey Cora (Third Base Coach), Anthony Iapoce (First Base Coach), Ryan Sienko (Catching Coach), and Lance Zawadzki (Assistant Major League Hitting Coach) will be joining the Detroit coaching staff. 

The Detroit Tigers kickoff the 2024 season against the Chicago White Sox on March 28. Opening Day at Comerica Park rings in on April 5 as the Detroit Tigers host the Oakland Athletics.
