OAKLAND COUNTY, Oct. 6, 2023 ~ Michigan State Police are facing a lawsuit from the family of an Oxford High School shooting victim for failing to intervene before the 2021 shooting.

The father of killed 14-year-old Hana St. Juliana filed a wrongful death suit Monday, alleging police failed to make a risk assessment and intervene after receiving tips of disturbing behavior from eventual shooter Ethan Crumbley. The agency denies receiving any tips about his behavior, according to the Detroit News.

This comes shortly after a judge deemed Crumbley could be sentenced to life in prison as a minor, and his parents’ involuntary manslaughter was set for Jan. 23, 2023.
