7,000 UAW Members Join Strike at Ford and GM

DETROIT, Sept. 29, 2023 ~ UAW President Shawn Fain announced this morning that the UAW plans to expand its strike to Ford Motor Co.’s Chicago Assembly Plant and General MotorsLansing Delta Township Plant.

Fain stated that Ford and GM refused to make meaningful progress in the negotiation process. As a result, a total of 7,000 auto workers across the two auto companies will now join the striking efforts at 12:00 p.m. EST today.

As Stellantis made significant progress at the table shortly before the announcement, no additional Stellantis UAW members will go on strike.
