EAST LANSING, Sept. 28, 2023 ~ On Wednesday, Michigan State University officially pulled the trigger, firing Mel Tucker for cause and leaving over $79 million remaining on his contract.

After reviewing Tucker’s 25-page document, Athletic Director Alan Haller and the university found his response to be lacking and the evidence for dismissal to be overwhelming. Ultimately, MSU argued Tucker breached his contract through his behavior and misconduct, specifically violating elements within his contract.

In a letter written by MSU, it states, “As the university previously stated, it is decidedly unprofessionally and unethical to flirt, make sexual comments, and to pleasure yourself while on the phone with a university vendor.”

As a result, the termination was justified.
