QATAR, Sept. 18, 2023 ~ After several years of unjustified imprisonment, five American citizens have been freed through a prisoner exchange agreement between Iran and the United States.

In exchange for the prisoners to be released, Iran was granted access to $6 billion in oil revenues previously frozen under U.S. sanctions, along with the freedom of five Iranian citizens imprisoned in the United States.

The five Americans have now landed in Qatar and are expected to safely return to U.S. soil aided by the government.

Despite the joyous return of the Americans to their families, the trade agreement highlights some potential concerns in the U.S. legal system. The large release of funds implies that the U.S. is willing to partake in business deals with supposed enemies. As a result, this may provide an incentive for American opponents to conduct future hostage-takings.

Fox NewsJonathan Savage spoke more about the freed Americans and the implications of the prisoner exchange agreement on 760 WJR‘s “All Talk.”
