Aug. 29, 2023 ~ Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is expected to call for rollbacks on Michigan abortion restrictions during a speech Wednesday, according to spokespeople from the governor’s office.

She is expected to talk about a new Reproductive Health Act, which has been introduced many times over the years by state Democrats. Some of the expected laws that Whitmer may target for rollbacks include a required 24-hour waiting period before getting abortions, health insurance restrictions with abortions, and what many activists deem “medically irrelevant” building codes for abortion providers.

Detroit News reporter Beth LeBlanc spoke more about Whitmer’s upcoming speech on “JR Morning with Guy Gordon.”
