Michigan Loses Out on $100 Billion Semiconductor Plant After Offering Billions in Incentives

July 27, 2023 ~ Despite offering billions of dollars in incentives, Michigan lost out on a $100 billion semiconductor plant from Micron Technology.

Michigan offered the company $4 billion in direct tax incentives, plus a 50-year tax break for a total of $27.9 billion in financial incentives over time, reported by the Detroit News. Research analyst for Good Jobs First Jacob Whiton spoke to Kevin Dietz and Tom Jordan more about what he thought the deal would have done to taxpayers.
