Barry Sanders, Calvin Johnson, Tom Izzo and More To Appear in AREA 313 Celebrity Scramble June 27

DETROIT, May 25, 2023 ~ The Rocket Mortgage Classic announced today that the AREA 313 Celebrity Scramble will return at 5 p.m., June 27. 

 

Pro Football Hall of Fame inductees Barry Sanders and Calvin Johnson, Red Wings NHL All-Star forward Dylan Larkin, Michigan State University Head Basketball Coach Tom Izzo, former Michigan basketball and NBA player Chris Webber, and WWE superstar “The Miz” will participate in the golf scramble. The event will take place at the Detroit Golf Club as part of Detroit Community Days and will help raise funds in the tournament’s efforts to bridge the digital divide in Detroit.

 

The Rocket Mortgage Classic is Detroit’s only PGA tour event, returning for its fifth year June 27-July 2 at the golf club. Tickets for Thursday through Sunday competition rounds are available at RocketMortgageClassic.com.

(CONTINUED) The AREA 313 Celebrity Scramble pits six, four-player teams against each other in a three-hole exhibition match. PGA Tour stars captain each team and are grouped with celebrity athletes and entertainers. Additional participants will be announced in the coming weeks. 

 

As part of Detroit Community Days, fans can take advantage of complimentary parking and admission to enjoy two additional special events during the week. 

 

The Rocket Giving Fund, the nonprofit host organization of the Rocket Mortgage Classic and Rocket Mortgage, raised more than $1.57 million through the 2022 Rocket Mortgage Classic to support local nonprofits. This included the Changing the Course initiative to help Detroit residents gain access to the internet, technology, and digital literacy.
