Detroit Riverwalk, Campus Martius, and The DIA Take Top Honors in USA Today’s Readers’ Choice Awards

DETROIT, February 27, 2023 ~ The USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards has once again honored Detroit for offering top attractions for travelers. The annual accolades, which rank cities across the nation on offerings such as outdoor spaces, activities, venues, dining, and lodging, placed Detroit at number one in three categories: “Best Art Museum,” “Best Riverwalk,” and “Best Public Square.”  

The Detroit Riverwalk took the “Best Riverwalk” award for the third straight year, outranking renowned waterside strolls in cities like San Antonio, Cincinnati, Tampa, and Indianapolis. Highlighted through the honor are three miles of Detroit’s scenic shoreline, with dining, a splash park, nature preserves, and entertainment spaces, plus easy connections to adjacent attractions such as Bell Isle Park and the Eastern Market shopping district.

(CONTINUED) Detroit’s Campus Martius Park also locked honors by nabbing the top slot in the “Best Public Square” category. The award highlights a place known for bringing the city together through attractions such as food trucks, festivals, summer concerts, winter ice skating, a holiday tree lighting, and more.

The Detroit Institute of Arts took top billing in the “Best Art Museum” category, with honors to the museum significant archive of more than 65,000 works. The commendation elevated the institute above some of the nation’s preeminent collections, including the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburg and the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore

Also of note, the Michigan Science Center and the Motown Museum took honorable mentions in the “Best Science Museum” and “Best Music Museum” categories, respectively.
