The Parade Company’s Tony Michaels Named 2022 Goodfellow of the Year

DETROIT, October 21, 2022 ~ Friday morning, 760 WJR‘s Paul W. Smith hosted the 32nd Annual Detroit Goodfellows Tribute Breakfast, this year honoring The Parade Company President and CEO Tony Michaels as the Edward H. McNamara Goodfellow of the Year.

I never thought, never in a million years. I got the phone call…I said ‘No, come on, there are so many people,‘” said Tony Michaels to Paul W. Smith at the Tribute Breakfast. “I’m really, really honored, I am. But again, it’s other people who make your life better, and I really live that way, I just do. It’s about people doing great things.”

(CONTINUED) The event took place at Detroit’s Huntington Place, and was attended by prominent Michigan business, civic, and political leaders, some of whom joined Paul W. in a roundtable discussion, including Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan President and CEO Dan Loepp, Congresswoman Debbie Dingell, and Detroit Police Chief James White.

The event also serves as a fundraiser, and every dollar raised goes to buy Christmas gift packages for 30,000 Detroit-area children in need, ages four through 13. It also helps provide a shoe program, dental program, college scholarships, and camperships.
