Spartans Deliver Shutout Victory Over Akron

Nick King, Lansing State Journal / USA TODAY NETWORK

EAST LANSING, MICHIGAN, September 10, 2021 ~ The Michigan State Spartans went to 2-0 Saturday in a decisive 52-0 win over the Akron Zips. Just a week after the Spartans struggled through a late game push to best Western Michigan, it appeared that their focuses in practice had paid off.

We had a lot of things that we needed to clean up, and I felt like we came into the game a better football team,” said MSU Football Head Coach Mel Tucker in his post-game press conference. “We just had to go out on the field and show that … and play a better brand of football more consistently. Offense and defense especially, complimenting each other for the entire ball game. I think our focus was better … our intensity throughout was better. There were a lot of good things for us to build upon with our team in all three phases.
