PONTIAC, Michigan, July 27, 2022 ~ With less than a week to go before the August 2 primary, the remaining Michigan Republican gubernatorial candidates sought to separate themselves from the pack Wednesday at a debate moderated by 760 WJR’s Tom Jordan and Kevin Dietz.

Although these five candidates were still vying to sway voters away from each other, there was an obvious shift in focus at this, the third and final debate, with one clear opponent at the forefront.

(CONTINUED)The goal is to get Gretchen Whitmer out of office,” said former steel industry executive and conservative commentator Tudor Dixon. “Even my opponents on this stage would say, I’m the best person to win this election, because they’re attacking me as well. Kevin Rinke changed his ads from being pro Kevin Rinke to being against Tudor Dixon … and then, he quadrupled down on them.”

This brought on one of the few sparrings of the night, with businessman Kevin Rinke rebutting, “you just listened to our version of Gretchen Whitmer. The only candidate in this campaign that is operating with a PAC that’s funded by a wealthy family from the west side of the state … to the tune of over 2.5 million. She stood here in front of you and said, ‘I’m attacking her?’ … that’s what’s wrong with politics, folks. The truth hurts. Fess up.
