Detroit Pastry Chef Warda Bouguettaya Wins Prestigious James Beard Award

DETROIT, June 14, 2022 ~ Warda Bouguettaya, owner of Midtown‘s Warda Pâtisserie, was presented with a James Beard Award for Outstanding Pastry Chef by the James Beard Foundation, who awards the United States’ most prestigious culinary awards.

The quaint but modern bakery serves elegant pastries inspired by the owner’s life and travels in Algeria, France, and Asia.

Detroit was represented by three total nominees, with the James Beard Foundation nominating BARDA for Best New Restaurant, and Chef Omar Anani of Safron De Twah for Best Chef in the Great Lakes Region.
