WASHINGTON DC, July 9, 2021 ~ Thursday, Pfizer stated that they are currently expanding efforts to develop booster vaccines to fight COVID-19 variants.
In response, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released a joint statement saying that Americans do not need booster shots yet.
\”People who are fully vaccinated are protected from severe disease and death, including from the variants currently circulating in the country such as Delta,\” wrote the CDC and FDA. “Virtually all COVID-19 hospitalizations and deaths are among those who are unvaccinated.\”

Pfizer also stated that they will seek FDA emergency authorization for a booster dose in August.
The two agencies went on to say that it is not up for companies to decide when they may be needed.
\”We are prepared for booster doses if and when the science demonstrates that they are needed,\” the CDC and FDA said.
