LANSING, July 1, 2021 ~ Thursday morning, Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced the MI Shot to Win Sweepstakes, a vaccination lottery awarding more than $5 million in cash and $495,000 in scholarships.

The MI Shot to Win Sweepstakes will save and change lives,” said Governor Whitmer Thursday morning. “The reasoning behind the sweepstakes is simple: We want to keep Michiganders safe. We need to incentivize more of us to go and get vaccinated. You can walk in to most places now and get your first shot today and then go get registered.”

Michigan gaming laws did not allow for a vaccination lottery. However, Meijer partnered with the Michigan Association of United Ways and the State of Michigan to make the lottery possible.

Michigan residents can visit MIShotToWin.com to enter. Residents must have received at least one vaccination dose between December 1, 2020 and July 10, 2021.

For residents 18 years and older, there are 32 cash prizes available to win: a $1 million drawing, a $2 million drawing, and daily drawings of $50,000 for 30 days.

For residents aged 12 through 17, there will be nine $45,000 scholarship drawings.

We’ve all been a part of getting to this point. We are in a strong position compared to where we were a year ago. And yet we do have some more work to do,” Whitmer said. “Today’s announcement is an exciting step toward accomplishing our goals of getting more people vaccinated, getting everyone back to work and getting this economy invigorated.”
