Ford Field Vaccination Clinic Closes Monday Evening

DETROIT, May 17, 2021 ~ The federally run mass vaccination clinic at Ford Field will close at 8:30 p.m. Monday evening.

I\’m really proud of what we accomplished in eight weeks here. … Our goal was to maximize efforts to reach as many people as possible. COVID cases were surging in Michigan at the time, and it was a race to save as many lives as possible,\” said Clinic Medical Director Dr. Steven Rockoff.

Nearly 275,000 vaccines were administered, about 60,000 doses short of the 335,000 vaccine goal. Of those, only 7% were given to Detroit residents.

The overwhelming majority received the Pfizer vaccine, and only 1,062 shots of the Johnson & Johnson were given.

According to officials, doses not used by closing on Monday evening will be reallocated to other vaccination sites over the next four weeks.
