Guv Mum On Extending Orders; Canada Keeps The Locks On

The Michigan Health Department reported there were 5,793 new cases of the corona virus and another 190 deaths. The figures were reported as Governor Whitmer was telling a press conference it might be another week or two until we know what the heavy Thanksgiving travel may have done to help spread the virus. She did say she thinks the numbers will rise. Prior to yesterday’s figures, the state had been experiencing a slight slowdown in the spreading of COVID-19 statewide.

Several Michigan doctors are urging restaurants to help keep people safe by not rushing to reopen. A temporary ban on in-house dining is set to expire on December 8th. Joe Vicari of the Andiamo restaurants urged restaurants to reopen if the shutdown order is extended. He says the restaurants are ‘hanging on by a thread.’ The doctors say the call to reopen despite the health risk is reckless.

Continuing COVID concerns will keep travel into and out of Canada on hold. Prime Minister Trudeau announced that the ban on nonessential travel will not be lifted until there is more world-wide control of the virus. Before the pandemic, about 400-thousand people traveled between the two countries daily.
