Mich CV Goes Higher; Mask Challenges Filed

COVID-19 cases have hit a new peak. There were 1,873 new cases reported yesterday along with 43 additional deaths. Governor Whitmer says the number of daily new cases being reported this month is higher than it’s been since last April. There have been nearly 30-thousand new virus cases reported in the last 30 days. Whitmer puts part of the blame on a court ruling. She says that cases of the corona virus spiked in the first week of October after the Michigan State Supreme Court ruled that she acted unconstitutionally in issuing emergency orders without the approval of the state legislature.

Following the Supreme Court ruling, the state department of Health and Human Services began issuing its own pandemic orders. Two lawsuits have now been filed in Ottawa County in what appears to be the first legal challenge to those orders. They were filed by a Christian school in Hudsonville and a chiropractor’s office in Grand Haven. Both are challenging the mandates on the wearing of masks.
