He has more Indy 500 victories than any car owner. Now Roger PenskeĀ really owns the race and the racetrack.
Penske Entertainment is acquiring the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and everything that goes with it from Hulman Enterprises and the Hulman family who has owned Indy for 74 years.
Penske, the Detroit industrialist and businessman, has 18 Indy 500 victories, the most by any team owner.
Roger Penske will own the track and the Indy Car series.
Roger Penske was a successful race car driver in the late 1950’s and early 60’s, but never raced in the Indy 500.He was invited to enter the 500, but he was already heavily in business enterprises and turned it down. A rookie driver took his place— Mario Andretti.
Penske retired as a driver in 1965, dominates open-wheel racing, is a leader in NASCAR, and other racing organizations.
