The Strange Case Of Judge Green

A hearing is set for today in Wayne County Circuit Court in regards to an unusual legal matter.

Judge Tracy Green had been assigned to hear the murder trial of Albert Weathers, who has been charged with the murder of a Detroit transgender woman.

Then, at the request of the prosecutors office, she agreed to step down because she had contributed to a fundraiser for Weathers wife and daughter.

She said she felt she would be fair in the handling of the case, but wanted to avoid even the appearance of impropriety.

Defense attorney David Cripps objected to her stepping down.

He said her donation was simply a compassionate act and in no way a reason for her to step down.

He appealed he decision and a hearing on the issue will be heard today Judge Prentis Edwards Junior.

This isn’t the first time that Judge Green has been in hot water.
