Many customers of major health insurance carriers, like Blue Cross, HAP, McLaren Health Care, and others are receiving notices of a security breach which may have compromised the personal information of hundreds of thousands of clients.
The breach was the result of a malware attack of the Wolverine Solutions Group, a contractor for hospitals and other health care companies. The scale of the breach has not been reported.
The attack reportedly was part of an extortion scheme.
