A Roseville man who was ticketed this past January for warming up his car in his driveway took his case to court, and the judge sided with the police officer who issued the ticket. Taylor Trupiano left his car running at his home on Waldorf Street in early January. His attorney telling the judge he was warming up his car because he was going to bring his baby to the vehicle. He received a 128 dollar ticket. His attorney argued the ordinance against leaving your car running unattended, did not apply to a person’s driveway. The judge disagreed, ordering the ticket to stand. Trupiano had already paid the fine.
Although it’s not a state law, officials say it is a public safety issue involving over 7,000 cars stolen in SE Michigan in 2015 when keys were left inside and running unattended.
