Days after North Korea claimed a hydrogen bomb test, the U-S responded with a show of military might by flying a B-52 bomber over the Korean Peninsula. The United States Pacific Command reported a joint effort with a Republic of Korea F-15 fighter aircraft. PACOM Admiral Harry B. Harris Jr. said a B-52 bomber jet from Andersen Air Force Base in Guam flew over Osan, South Korea on Sunday “in response to a recent nuclear test by North Korea. This was a demonstration of the ironclad U.S. commitment to our allies in South Korea, in Japan, and to the defense of the American homeland.” Following the mission, the B-52 returned to Guam.
