Correspondent Andrew Spencer reported an official confirmation that at least 14 people have died in storms across three states. Storm survivor Tony Goodwin said “When I saw it, I was like, ‘Oh, crap. We’re in trouble.’ The tornado knocked his house off it’s foundation, but he and six other people survived by dashing into his storm shelter. He said, “I had my grandson in my arm, under my arm. Everybody got in except for my sister-in-law, and I’m yelling at her, ‘Come on.’” The second she got inside, he says he shut the door and put down the bar. Unfortunately, not far from his home, a couple who just celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary, Ann and Antonio Yzaguirre, died in the storm. In Ashland, Mississippi, a family of three was inside their home when the storms hit. What’s left of that house is a pile of rubble, but the three walked away with only minor injuries. They’re among the lucky ones. Officials count more than a dozen dead in three states. Survivors are left with shambles to clean up this Christmas, but storm survivor Kenya Williams is telling her kids to be thankful. Her daughter said, “Mom, what are we gonna do for Christmas?’ and Kenya responded, ‘Well, we’ll still be okay. We’re here. That’s a Christmas gift enough in itself.”
