Embezzlement charges for principal and agency COO

The COO of a Detroit nonprofit and the principal of a school it helped support are accused of embezzling more than $100,000 from the organization. The Wayne County Prosecutor is filing charges against Cecilia Zavala, of Esperanza Detroit and Rodolfo Diaz, principle of Western International High School in Detroit.
Officials claim the pair embezzled money between November of 2011 and May of 2014. Zavala is accused of using the money to pay for restaurants, personal vacations and expensive hotels, jewelry and a car.
