Westland police say a woman who hit an 8-year-old boy with her car may have been on drugs. The child was hit near Darwin Street and Delton Court. She drove away, but those who saw the accident were able to help police make an arrest. The boy was declared brain dead .
38-year-old Kimberly Garrett of Romulus is charged with operating while intoxicated causing serious injury and other charges. Her bond was set at $500,000.
