Tornadoes, severe thunderstorms and heavy rain did damage across Michigan. Some 31,000 homes and businesses are without power in Southeast Michigan from the storms that included a number of tornadoes.

There was heavy damage in the townships near Manchester, Almont, Sanilac and Tuscola counties, with a tornado touchdown in Deckerville and in Millington, near Frankenmuth. Several minor injuries are reported in these areas.

The town of Portland, near Lansing, was hit by a tornado. Some businesses were torn apart. Several homes were damaged. They had several minor injuries in there. A suspected tornado came down about 1:30 Tuesday morning near Manchester, an area in Washtenaw county described by many as tornado alley. The tornado may have had two touchdowns-in Sharon and in Freedom Townships. Trees came down, homes were damaged, and power was knocked out for many.

In the immediate Detroit area, some scattered trees and lines are down, and heavy rain has caused neighborhood local flooding, especially in Dearborn Heights. In total five tornadoes and suspected tornadoes and funnel clouds were sighted  in lower Michigan.
