GM River Days begins Friday. It’s the start of the weekend festival on the Detroit River that culminates with the Ford Fireworks Monday night. The River Days events have been overshadowed by the controversy over a curfew for young people to try to minimize any problems. While a curfew was not extended, some volunteer patrols have been organized, and Detroit police will be watching closely especially in the River Walk area.
