Martin Zale insisted he shot another driver in self-defense, but on Friday a judge sentenced him to decades behind bars for a road rage case in Livingston County. He was sentenced to 25-50 years in prison for second-degree murder. Derek Flemming was shot when he confronted Zale about aggressive driving near Howell last September. The prosecutor said Zale should have kept the window up or driven away.
A jury in May rejected first-degree murder but convicted Zale of second-degree murder which can carry a chance for parole.
