DETROIT, MI – With launch competitions, a hiring fair and some insight from leaders of the technology sector, Techweek Detroit returns for a second year next week. Starting Monday, April 13, the week-long tech fest will bring together some of the thought leaders of the local and national tech scene.
Techweek Detroit culminates with a two-day conference and expo April 16-17 at Ford Field. Highlights include:
- Launch competition for $50,000 in prizes: A “LAUNCH” start-up competition will take place Thursday, April 16 from 1-5 p.m. Pre-qualified start-ups will have the chance to win cash and sponsor-donated gifts worth up to $50,000. The start-ups will be judged by a panel of tech and business leaders.
- Looking for a job? The hiring fair takes place 12-5 p.m. on Friday, April 17. If you bring your resume, you get complimentary access to the hiring fair. Budding start-ups and well-established businesses will both be represented.
- They’re screening the Edward Snowden movie at the Madison Building: Attendees can watch private screenings of “Citizenfour” on Tuesday, April 14 at the Madison Building. “Citizenfour” is a documentary based on the secret correspondence reporter Laura Poitras first had with U.S. national security whistleblower Edward Snowden, and subsequent meetings between Snowden and journalists Glenn Greenwald and Ewen MacAskill.
