Police Board Member Will Not Face Charges

A member of the Detroit Police Board of Commissioners will not be charged with interrupting a meeting last week where the board was hearing concerns about facial recognition to reduce crime.

Willie Burton was taken out of the meeting and ticketed for disorderly conduct. But Chief Craig says police will not press charges. Opposition to facial recognition programs has surfaced among African Americans who say they fear it will be used unfairly against black people.
