Art Show Will Be Edgy

Today marks the opening of ‘Detroit Art Week.

It’s a five day event that organizers say is a celebration of edgy art and culture that serves as a way to draw visitors into the city.

This is the second year for the event.

It was started by Amani Olu, a native of Philadelphia who moved here from Brooklyn three years ago.

He says this year event will run through Sunday and includes 36 exhibitions, visits to 14 artists studios, 13 performances and eight panel discussions that will take place all across the city.

Most events will be free.
