A man convicted of sexually abusing a Spirit Airlines passenger could be sentenced to up to life in prison.
35 year old Prabhu Ramamoorthy of Rochester Hills is to be sentenced today.
Prosecutors say he undressed and fondled a woman while she was asleep.
The two had been on an overnight flight from Las Vegas to Detroit last January.
The 22 year old woman said she fell asleep leaning against the window and awoke to a hand in her pants and her pants and shirt unbuttoned.
She told a flight attendant what had happened and Ramamoorthy, who is in the United states on a work visa, was arrested when the plane landed at Metro.
He told police that he had been in a deep sleep and is not sure what happened.
A jury in August deliberated for less than 4 hours before finding him guilty of sexual abuse.
