Dem Lt. Gov. Candidate Catches Flak For Slummy House

Gilbert Gilchrist, the Democratic candidate for lieutenant governor, is at risk of losing a fire-damaged run-down duplex he purchased from Detroit in 2016.

He has until today to provided proof that he will clean up the property on Marston Street..

The Detroit Land Bank Authority declared that the current condition of the exterior of the building was unacceptable.

His Republican opponents in the race have accused him of slumlord-like behavior.

Gilchrist said he has used up his personal resources to repair the duplex and is seeking a loan to continue the needed repairs.
