Hearing On Death Of Local Marine

A hearing is scheduled today to determine whether charges should be brought against a Marine drill instructor in connection with the death of a Muslim recruit from the Detroit area.
20 year old Raheel Siddiqui of Taylor died just over a year ago at the Marine Corps’ Parris Island training base.

Investigators say the youngster died after a fall from a third-story stairwell, jumping after being bullied and slapped by a drill instructor.

A local civilian coroner ruled the death a suicide.

The man’s family rejected that conclusion.

They say their son had been accused of being a terrorist and had been physically abused by the drill instructor.

Today’s hearing is to determine whether charges against the unnamed instructor should move forward.

It is being held at Camp Lejeune.
