Visitation is today and the funeral is tomorrow for John Sobeck. He may not be a household name, but his product has made it into many homes.
Mr. Sobeck was the founder of the Chicken Shack restaurants.
He opened his first Chicken Shack store in Royal Oak in 1956. He and his wife Iola took the broasted chicken process and added their own methods, perfecting it into their popular product, which has expanded to 20 area stores.
The family says Mr. Sobeck died of cancer. He was 92.
