School Bribery Pleas Continue

gavel--300x203Hearings continue Tuesday in the series of plea deals by those charged in the Detroit school bribery scandal.

Assistant Superintendent Clara Flowers has a plea hearing scheduled. Flowers is one of more than a dozen educators and a school vendor.

Flowers is charged with accepting nearly $325,000 in kickbacks. Former principal Clara Smith was the first of the defendants to plead guilty last week. Smith awaits sentencing.  Federal officials believe all of those charged will enter pleas. More hearings are scheduled.
